Can we enter a team?
Yes - you are more than welcome to run as a team. If you can get a team of five people together to enter as a pack, the fifth person runs for free! You must enter all five people at the same time to get the fifth free place.
We would like to add people to our pack but we have already entered. How do we do this?
A ‘Pack Code’ was emailed to the pack creators on entry. Type this in when entering and you will be added to the pack ensuring the same start time. Please note: if they enter at a later date, they may have to pay more than you as the entry fees go up as we get nearer to selling out.
I entered as a single runner but would now like to run with a friend who has also entered/run with a pack that has already entered. How can I do this?
Please email and let us know the date you are running, your pack code and the pack code of who you would like to join, or alternatively, the name of the person that you would like to run with. We will then link you on our system. Please note: if you would like to run with another individual, let us have a pack name for you - it’s the easiest way to link you on our system!
Fitness and Kit Advice
How fit do I have to be to take part in the Wolf Run?
We recommend that you ask your doctor if you have any concerns about your ability to run the Wolf Run. It is a demanding 10k run and you must train accordingly, with training runs and any other suitable strength/cardio/flexibility training incorporated into your training. You must notify us before you take part in the Run if there is a pre-existing physical injury or condition that we should be aware of.
Do I have to be able to swim to take part?
You don’t have to be able to swim to take part - we always give you alternatives to the water obstacles. You should be a strong swimmer to complete the lake swim during the Wolf Run - it looks a short distance but is very cold indeed and you need to be a good swimmer to complete it. If you can’t swim, there is an alternative route which runs around the swim section - just ask the marshals and follow the signs.
What should I wear to run?
This depends on the weather! Basic advice is that you will get wet, muddy and may get cold, so wear warm, light running clothing and good running shoes with good grip but without spikes - some areas are too hard/stony for them, and they are dangerous for other competitors on the obstacles. Gloves can also be a good idea. If it’s sunny weather, bring sunscreen and a hat - we really don’t recommend sunglasses as you’ll probably lose them.
Also - bring warm clothing to change into after the event and a towel!
Can I see the course before the run date?
No - the course and its bespoke obstacles are a carefully guarded secret! It is also on private land so there is no access on any other day except the date of the Wolf Run.
Will the Wolf Run be cancelled if there is bad weather?
The Wolf Run will not be cancelled unless it is dangerous to allow runners onto the course. We do not cancel the Run because of rain, cold, snow etc. - we run in all conditions as long as it’s safe!
When does the event start?
The Wolf Run will start at 9am when registration opens. Your start time will be between 10am - 3pm and will be given to you in the information pack that is sent to you 10 days before the Wolf Run via email.
Where do I find directions to the event?
Directions to the Wolf Run sites can be found here. Please note that there is no public transport to the run sites. The best way to get to us is by driving.
Is there parking?
Lots of parking is available at the Wolf Run. There is a parking fee of £5.00 per car, £10 per minibus. For coaches additional charges will apply and advance notification is required.
We use the fees to repair and maintain the large field used for parking and to provide temporary road surfaces when required. In return for your parking fee we offer you a discount voucher which can be used at the Wolf Run Shop on event days as stated on the voucher (not redeemable online).
Please follow the parking marshal’s directions on arrival. Please also note that there will probably be some congestion at times. Please be patient and our marshals will get you in/out as fast as possible!
Where do I collect my run number?
You can collect your run number and register at the registration tent - this will be close to the parking area and clearly signed. We recommend you arrive at least an hour before your start time to give yourself time to register, change, pin your number on, retie your shoes, find your suntan lotion and generally get yourself ready! You will be called to your safety briefing and warm up session 20 minutes prior to your start time.
Are there timing chips for each runner?
We do not use timing chips as the Wolf Run is not a race. For competitive wolves, we recommend timing yourselves - please make sure your watches are water/shock proof!
Is there a time limit for completing the course?
The course will officially close 2.5 hours after the last wave and all runners must be off the course by then.
Can I miss an obstacle out?
Yes - you can go around any obstacle that really presents an issue. However, the Wolf Run is all about you pushing yourself beyond what you think you can do, and working as a team. People will help you over, under and through all obstacles - don’t be afraid to ask a marshal or a fellow runner for help. You can do more than you think you can.
Will there be medical help?
Medical support teams with fully equipped ambulances will be on site and marshals will be situated all around the course. We have military doctors who lead our team of paramedics and first aiders, as well as a team of specialist open water canoe lifeguards. We work hard on injury prevention when designing our courses and have had good feedback from our medical assessors and runner alike.
Should you become injured or ill, we will get you to a first aid station as quickly as possible. You must notify us before you take part in the Run if there is a pre-existing injury or condition that we should be aware of.
Where can I store my valuables?
We recommend that you leave everything you can in your locked car. There will be a Key Drop where you can leave your car keys while you are running. If you do not have access to a car, our Key Drop can also take a very limited number of bags. Please note that we cannot accept responsibility for any personal items left with us. We also take no responsibility for vehicles and belongings in the car park.
Can I have a shower afterwards?
You have the option of a cold shower! It sounds bad now, but just wait until you’re hot and muddy...
Will there be food and drink at the Wolf Run?
Yes - there will be lots of good local food and drink (including a hog roast and cake stall!) available to purchase at the Wolf Run finish area (which is located very near the car park). We will also have music for the post-run afternoon party. The day finishes at approx. 5.30pm.
